Important News: Temporarily suspend visa issuance to all foreigners to Viet Nam, effective from 00h00 18 March 2020, valid for 30 days

On 17th March 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam made the following announcement:

To strengthen measures in curbing the spread of COVID-19 in the community, the Vietnamese Government has decided as follows:

1.Temporarily suspend visa issuance to all foreigners to Viet Nam, effective from 00h00 18 March 2020 and this decision will remain valid for 30 days.

2.From 00:00 18 March 2020, entrants who are exempt from entry visas, holders of visa-exempt certificates (people of Vietnamese origin and their family members) or other special cases (experts, corporate managers, skilled labor) must present Covid-19 negative certificate issued by competent authorities of their country of residence at their arrival in Viet Nam. The certificate must be approved in advance by the Vietnamese competent authorities prior to their arrival.

These measures shall not be applicable to entrants for diplomatic or official purposes.

3.Entrants into Viet Nam shall be subject to medical screening and other preventive measures or quarantine in accordance with the regulations.

4.Mass quarantine at designated facilities shall be expanded to include all entrants from the US, European and ASEAN countries. Home quarantine and further medical monitoring at place of work and residence, and monitoring by groups shall be applicable to those not subject to mass quarantine.

Viet Nam has informed all diplomatic missions, consular offices and representative offices of international organizations in Viet Nam of the decision. Viet Nam will continue monitoring the Covid-19 developments, and maintain close collaboration with other countries, international organizations and partners in order to swiftly adjust our measures accordingly, thus protecting the health and safety of Vietnamese citizens and all foreigners in Viet Nam in line with our ultimate goal in this combat against the Covid-19./.

Ngày 17/03/2020, Bộ Ngoại giao ra thông báo:

Với mục đích tăng cường các biện pháp phòng, chống và ngăn chặn sự lây lan dịch bệnh COVID 19 trong cộng đồng, Chính phủ Việt Nam quyết định:

- Tạm dừng cấp thị thực cho người nước ngoài nhập cảnh Việt Nam trong khoảng thời gian 30 ngày bắt đầu từ 00:00 ngày 18/03/2020.

- Từ 00:00 ngày 18/03/2020, những trường hợp được miễn thị thực hoặc có giấy miễn thị thực cấp cho người gốc Việt và thân nhân, một số trường hợp đặc biệt khác (như chuyên gia, nhà quản lý doanh nghiệp, lao động tay nghề cao…) khi nhập cảnh phải có giấy xác nhận không dương tính với virus Covid-19 do cơ quan có thẩm quyền của nước sở tại cấp và giấy này được Việt Nam chấp thuận. Các biện pháp nêu trên không áp dụng với người nhập cảnh vì mục đích ngoại giao và công vụ.

- Các trường hợp nhập cảnh Việt Nam phải qua kiểm tra và tuân thủ các biện pháp phòng, chống dịch và cách ly phù hợp theo đúng quy định.

- Ngoài các trường hợp nhập cảnh được cách ly tập trung hiện nay, thực hiện việc cách ly tập trung đối với người nhập cảnh từ Hoa Kỳ, các nước châu Âu, các nước ASEAN; đồng thời thực hiện việc cách ly, giám sát y tế tại gia đình, doanh nghiệp, cơ sở lưu trú, giám sát theo nhóm đối với các đối tượng không thuộc diện cách ly tập trung.

Việt Nam đã thông báo quyết định này tới các cơ quan đại diện ngoại giao, cơ quan lãnh sự, cơ quan đại diện của tổ chức quốc tế tại Việt Nam và sẽ tiếp tục theo dõi chặt chẽ, phối hợp với các nước, các tổ chức và đối tác quốc tế, kịp thời điều chỉnh các biện pháp phòng, chống dịch phù hợp với mục tiêu cao nhất là bảo vệ sức khoẻ, an toàn của người dân Việt Nam và người nước ngoài tại Việt Nam./.
